Ed Begley Jr. plays David Boies, lead counsel for Vice President Al Gore in the litigation relating to the 2000 presidential election
An acclaimed litigator, Boies received his B.S. from Northwestern in 1964 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yale with an LLB in 1966 and earned an LLM from New York University in 1967. He was chief counsel and staff director of the US Senate Antitrust subcommittee in 1978 and chief counsel and staff director of the US Senate Judiciary Committee in 1979.
In 2000, in addition to arguing Bush v. Gore, he was special trial counsel for the US Department of Justice in its successful antitrust suit against Microsoft and was named "Lawyer of the Year" by the National Law Journal. He was also runner up for Time Magazine's "Person of the Year."
Ed Begley, Jr. has been nominated six times for an Emmy® for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
